Steam Greenlight General
« on: September 03, 2012, 11:31:18 am »
So Valve have launched 'Steam Greenlight', a way for us, the community, to vote on up and coming indie games to get released on Steam. So lets share some ideas!

I'll clear up the obvious ones.

Slender Source: Based on one of the most infamous games on the internet right now. It'd be interesting seeing it on Steam. Not to mention its free.

Project Zomboid: A highly rated zombie survival game available on Desura.

OctoDad: Because its motherfucking OctoDad.

Platformines
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=92963567&searchtext=
what if borderlands and spelunky made a baby? you get Platformines. tried the beta out and found it rather amusing, and it has some rather controlled random generation. sure, the game's about rebuilding "Robodig" so you can escape, but it's obvious that it's something to the side that needs to be done, and that the guns, just like in Borderlands, take the spotlight. also creeper hat.

Crystal Towers 2

large hub, quite a few stages with lots of challenges. kind of a shame this is buried under other greenlight games, seeing as the trial had a load to do in it. i'd sum it up as super mario 64 meets metroid, and in 2D.

Help. I don't know where this belongs.

A few games that I've played, and are now on Greenlight.

Bunny Must Die
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=93405836&searchtext=
A very fun Metroidvania involving time manipulation, nuclear cat explosions, and fanservice.

La Mulana
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=93001822&searchtext=
Also a Metroidvania, now with updated graphics and stuff.  I've only played the free version, but there are few videos of the new version on YouTube.

Dino Run SE
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=92211076&searchtext=
NOT a Metroidvainia, but instead an arcade runner thingy.  Haven't played it for a few years, but would still like to support it on Steam.

Also, I hope that Greenlight doesn't turn into the Apple App store.  You think Youtube comments are bad, you haven't seen anything until you've seen reviews in the app store.  That and the 80 different totally-not-minecraft games.

Haven't played this game in a long time, only thing I would add is an option to turn off music.

Also:
I place $20 into a box. So do you. There is now $40 in the box. I sell the box to you for $30. We both walk away with a $10 profit.

Black Mesa Source
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=94128543&searchtext=
you already know what this is if you've seen it's respective thread here

Delver
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=92982318&searchtext=
don't let the editor video fool you, this isn't a minecraft clone, but rather a 3D first person rougelike that has nothing to do with building and breaking terrain

McPixel
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=91573598&searchtext=
what if you only had 20 seconds to live before a bomb went off? McPixel explores that in point n'click shenanigans, where the objective is to NOT blow up using whatever is around you, be it an alien smoking weed in the bushes, a kid's failure to recognize that he put the trophy in his locker and took the bomb instead, or giving a person a good smack in the belly.

Help. I don't know where this belongs.
