Mumble Server!
« on: January 25, 2014, 02:42:41 pm »
Hey guys, we're test running a new public mumble server. Right now we're running 50 slots, but we may increase that if it becomes popular.

Server: mumble.saxtonhell.com
Port: default (64738)

This should give everyone a consistent VoIP home, if needed. This also gives everyone the opportunity to hang out with the admin crew.

If you're unfamiliar with what Mumble is, it's a lightweight VoIP client (think teamspeak, ventrillo). You can get it here: http://mumble.sourceforge.net/

How does this work in the game?  I'm getting told to enter "!mumble" in chat but do I need to have the software running?  Will it get you VAC-banned?

Mumble is a program, so you have to download it. There's nothing in it that makes it bannable.

!mumble just displays a info menu and not much else.

As for the server itself, we may be getting rid of it soon. The server started as an experiment to see if our admin group would be better suited for communicating through mumble. Additionally, it gave an opportunity for regular people to hop on and hang out with us. Unfortunately though, it never really caught on in our group and just went unused most of the time, so we went back to using Skype.
