Title: Quieter servers
Post by: Nurse Pinkamena on October 27, 2014, 04:56:14 pm
Noticing the servers are getting more quieter i hope its only because of Halloween and COD and borderlands

It's mostly due to the servers moving and several other games coming out around this time of year. It's no big deal and will probably rebound in the next month or two.

We're too busy eating Poutine while watching hockey games to ruin anything, eh.

Higher ping brought by the server move is also an issue for people that no longer get on. I don't have a high ping myself, but I guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

I'll take 125 ping and no packet loss over 45 ping and high packet loss any day.

Could we of picked something more "central" or found a better place than Texass? (south sucks)

First of all *could have

Second, don't know about your personal interpretation of geography, but Texas is pretty damn central in terms of US, Canada and Mexico. We're not a solidly US server mate. ;3

The location doesn't matter as much as the server's lines/cables. The old server host was having problems and failed to address them.

One admin is several hundred miles further away from the servers after the move but still has a ping of 40. It all depends on if there's a fiber optic line by you or some other high speed line

The bottom line is that if we didn't move to a better host, this would have kept happening:
