Somebody just sent me a TF2 Reddit link to a topic warning about a server out there that downloads virus' and steals accounts. I forgot the link, but i'd still like to put it out there for you guys to be careful when using the "Internet" tab.
I think it said something about it being a name with random numbers in it... that being the obvious thing to avoid.
Anyway, if you can link it here, t'would be good.

I'm somewhat skeptical, but it's Valve so anything is possible.
There have been similar source server based exploits in the past for tf2 and gmod, but these were the results of developers pen-testing the game and were reported to Valve, nothing like this in the wild though.

You do realize that VoiDeD uses the computers of the players that connect to the SXH servers to mine for bitcoins without their knowledge, right? How else do you think he pays for the servers and his cocaine addiction? Selling his body on street corners only pays for about half of the monthly bill.

There was another similar case about seven years back with CSS as I remember, the download would be something odd like "happy.scr" and instantly run the file. It would give the file access to change about anything such as administrator programs. It would open up an incognito browser window and bring you to a URL with all the shit they wanted to infect you with. Can't really remember the specifics as to what it changed, but it was pretty ugly. Would infect you with malware, spyware, and a bunch of other stuff that'll lock you out. Anti-viruses were not as great as they are today, just about any type of advanced malware could get past them.
The facepunch thread is probably dead now and will be impossible to find.
